https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/32.jpg Chicken Run?!? Hi everyone, Edgerbrand here again. Yes, it is me. I know I'm not quite looking like myself but I can explain -- at least partially. Maybe I better start at the beginning. Maybe I shouldn't have said the beginning because, honestly, I'm not quite sure how this happened. It's all a bit fuzzy. All I remember is laying down after a wonderful dinner of several (was it three or four?) roast chicken then suddenly waking up as a chicken!
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/33.jpg Chicken Run?!? The great part was I was home in the Shire. The bad part was I had this inexplicable urge to flee as fast as I could. Once I passed a few hungry hobbits who seemed to keep their gaze on my a bit longer than I'd have liked, I started to realize why. Thankfully I wasn't alone. There was this cloaked lady and several other chicken also fleeing the Shire. There was also a hobbit lady behind us but I honestly didn't know if she was traveling with us or looking for stragglers!
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/34.jpg Chicken Run?!? The first part of the journey seemed like a blur. We made it out of the Shire, ran across Breeland, through Bree itself where, by their reaction, you'd think they'd never seen a group of chicken out on an adventure! But we didn't stop there, we kept running. Past the Forsaken Inn and through the Lone Lands.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/35.jpg Chicken Run?!? Seems like we didn't take a break until we had completely crossed the Lone Lands and reached the Last Bridge. By that point I had decided to embrace my chickenness and enjoy the moment. I had also decided the hobbit lady wasn't looking at us as her next meal so that helped as well.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/36.jpg Chicken Run?!? It did allow us to appreciate the incredible views. I tried to get a better perspective but it seems my wings aren't as effective as I'd have liked.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/37.jpg Chicken Run?!? I found a couple of Elves near the bridge and tried to introduce myself. They were very polite and didn't seem too surprised to be approached by a chicken but they also didn't seem to understand me so I gave up.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/38.jpg Chicken Run?!? We decided to continue on our way, though I still wasn't sure where we were going. The lady was still leading the way so I assumed she knew where to go.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/39.jpg Chicken Run?!? I had what I thought was a fantastic idea. If people couldn't understand me, maybe the wildlife could. I found a friendly-seeming hind but it seemed preoccupied and not interested in talking.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/40.jpg Chicken Run?!? I even found a sleeping bear but it didn't seem to want to wake up. I thought about giving it a gentle peck but something inside told me I'd be better off catching up with the others.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/41.jpg Chicken Run?!? Whew! They had gotten farther ahead than I realized. I rushed to catch up and thankfully they let me rest for a bit when I did because I don't think I could have gone on.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/42.jpg Chicken Run?!? It turns out I had caught them right at the Ford of the Bruinen so we were able to have a nice refreshing swim.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/43.jpg Chicken Run?!? Just up the hill I found a nice camp where I could warm myself and dry off from the swim. I was a little disappointed there was no one to talk to.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/44.jpg Chicken Run?!? It wasn't much farther before we reached Rivendell. This must be where we were going. If anyone would know how to fix our fowl situation (ha!) someone here would.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/45.jpg Chicken Run?!? We found Lady Arwen and she advised us to seek out Glorfindel. Hmm, maybe I should have bathed a bit longer in the Bruinen. Starting to smell a bit fowl (ha again!).
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/46.jpg Chicken Run?!? We finally found Glorfindel and he didn't seem surprised to see a group of chicken accosting him.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/47.jpg Chicken Run?!? He said everything would be fine and we'd be back to our normal selves in no time. For some strange reason he said my recovery would take a little longer than everyone else's.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/48.jpg Chicken Run?!? So I prepared to say goodbye to my fine feathered friends. We had one last flying competition. Narva got the highest but I think they cheated.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/49.jpg Chicken Run?!? So here I sit, waiting to be back to my old self. The others are all gone, back on their way home. I'm sure it won't be too much longer for me, though for some reason this branch is starting to seem like a nice place to build a nest.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/23.jpg Festival Time! Hello friends! OK, so I know I'm supposed to be exploring the far corners of Middle Earth but it's festival season! I couldn't bear missing all the fun.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/24.jpg Festival Time! There are always so many people to meet. Many are so careless too -- dropping things everywhere. I'd hate to think what would happen if I wasn't there to find them.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/25.jpg Festival Time! It's also nice to have the time away from the crowds and enjoy the fishing contests. I love to fish! I even caught the largest! Unfortunately I lost on a technicality. They said a boot doesn't count. I still say I caught it fare and square.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/26.jpg Festival Time! I did win a lovely new kite though. Nothing like running through the shire with the grass between your toes. I'll keep this with me on my travels to help remind me of home.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/27.jpg Festival Time! You should also take the time to enjoy the music...
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/28.jpg Festival Time! and all the wonderful food. So much food!
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/29.jpg Festival Time! Of course you can't have a propper meal without a nice ale, or two, to wash it all down.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/30.jpg Festival Time! Unfortunately not all was wonderful. Someone stole my favorite napping spot. The nerve!
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/31.jpg Festival Time! There was also a slight misunderstanding on who was paying for all that food and ale. They were very nice to remind me that there are festivals far from the Shire that I could find to attend. How thoughtful. On that note I guess it's time I resumed my journey. Until next time!
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/7.jpg Barrow Downs Hello again friends! My journey continues. I have to admit though, I'm not quite sure what those folks at the Bree vault see in the Barrow Downs. This was definitely not what I expected.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/8.jpg Barrow Downs The weather left a lot to be desired. How are you supposed to lay in the grass in the sun when there's no sun, just fog and mist? I did see many homes though that reminded me of my cozy hobbit hole back home!
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/9.jpg Barrow Downs The interior was definitely not up to Shire standards. What a mess! No self-respecting hobbit would let their home get so dirty. It was so bad I had a mind to clean it myself.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/10.jpg Barrow Downs Instead I decided to find some of the locals. I actually found a fellow hobbit! She seemed very upset about losing something. While I'm very good at finding things, something told me it was best to let her deal with her feelings herself.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/11.jpg Barrow Downs There really aren't that many people around to talk to here. I finally found a camp with a few folks but they were so serious. Another lady was inconsolable. No matter how I tried to entertain her I couldn't cheer her up.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/12.jpg Barrow Downs It seems everyone here is depressed. Maybe that's why the homes are so dirty -- they're too sad to clean. Even those that weren't crying weren't very talkative. I met one fellow that I think must be a guard. He just kept patrolling around a hill (I think it must be an important place) and didn't seem to have time to stop and talk.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/13.jpg Barrow Downs I was about to give up when I noticed a road back toward the Old Forest and the Shire. Though I know I'm supposed to be helping folks far from the Shire, I needed something to lift my spirits. Boy, did I find it! What a cheerful fellow.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/14.jpg Barrow Downs How could everyone be so unhappy with Mister Bombadil just over the hill? He's always happy. But, I guess he was sort of lost in his own world. He hardly seemed to notice I was here -- and don't even try to have a conversation with him! I decided this was a good time to move on with my travels. I don't know which direction I'll go so maybe I'll let my pony decide. Until then, safe travels and a warm hearth to you all!
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/15.jpg Kin Island Hi again everyone! Have I got great news. I found a band of fellow adventurers -- the Kindred Spirits. They're super friendly and have let me join their kin. I decided to take a break from my journey around Middle Earth to explore my new kin's home. Wow! It's huge. They have an entire island!'
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/16.jpg Kin Island There's so much to do here. They've got a pool. Not really that good for swimming but it's nice for relaxing.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/17.jpg Kin Island There's even a snowball arena (I'd never seen snow before.). There was also a massive crafting area...but I wouldn't want to interrupt people working so I decided to go inside instead.'
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/18.jpg Kin Island Boy am I glad I did. I have my own counting room.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/19.jpg Kin Island Hmm, I wonder where this door goes?
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/20.jpg Kin Island All the stairs in here are making me a bit thirsty. Maybe just one little cup.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/21.jpg Kin Island Feeling a little tired too. Maybe I'll lay down for a bit.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/22.jpg Kin Island I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time in my new home away from home...once I figure out where I am now.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/3.jpg Bree Edgerbrand again with the first stop on my grand tour of Middle Earth. I had heard so much about the big-folks' town of Bree that I had to make that my first stop. I have to say that is a very busy place. People rushing around working all kinds of jobs. Well, you know me, I always want to do my part so I jumped in with both feet! I helped feed the horses at the eastern stable...
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/4.jpg Bree I volunteered for guard duty...
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/5.jpg Bree I even helped out at the town vault.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/6.jpg Bree Seems they didn't need as much help there as they thought. I tried to tell them that people always misplace things and I could help make sure they get to the right spot but they still said no. They were helpful though. They said that if I'm good at finding things, just over the ridge is the Barrow Downs and that people lose stuff there all the time! They also said I could wander around there as long as I wanted -- i didn't have to ever come back if I didn't want to! Well I was sold. That place must be great. I'll have to head there next and see what all the fuss is about.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/1.jpg The Journey Begins Hello fellow travelers! Edgerbrand here. I want to welcome you all to our corner of Middle Earth. I always enjoy meeting new friends and I know we'll all be the best of mates. I have lots of friends here in the Shire. Unfortunately they are usually rather busy when I come calling -- we hobbits are hard extremely workers! Why I myself have a very important job. Mayor Whitfoot himself selected me to go on an adventure! I'm to go share my knowledge with the rest of Middle Earth beyond the reaches of the Shire.
https://files-cloud.enjin.com/1600663/site_images/home_gallery/2.jpg The Journey Begins Not sure why Second Shirrif Bunce felt he had to say it wasn't because of the misunderstanding with Daisy's missing pies, or Gammer Took's missing lute, or even his badge he forgot he let me borrow (I am very good at finding things others don't realize they've lost). He still believes in me. He said "The farther you go from the Shire, the better." That's quite the responsibility! I'll do my best to make them proud. So, as I travel around I'll check in to let you know my progress. Until then, I'm off to start my journey. Well, once I give Carlso's favorite ale mug back to him. How did that get in my bag?
